From April 2022 until September 2023, I worked with tenants and staff in Sheltered housing complex's across the North-East of Scotland on the project, exploring creativity as a tool for self-expression, connection and wellbeing. The project which was initially commissioned by Live Life Aberdeenshire to encourage tenants of Dawson Court in Turriff to create landscape pieces inspired by living in rural Aberdeenshire.
Following it's success, the project was rolled out to Westbank Care Home in Old Meldrum, and Ythanvale in Ellon.
Residents used weaving, peg loom weaving, spinning and carding to create various pieces of work which were then put on display in the housing complex.
I worked alongside Jason Sinclair who filmed each of the creative sessions to create the short film below.
In November 2022, we were awarded the Social Care and Creativity award at Luminate Scotland's Creative Ageing Awards. I was also invited to speak as part of the Creative Ageing Conference in Edinburgh during their March 2023 meeting.
