Made up of abstract shapes formed by the repetition of a ‘horizon line’ taken from the Torry Battery, the mural has been installed at Victoria Carpets in Torry. At the top, the blues and greys represent where the sky meets the sea; the greens below representing the nature surrounding the Battery. The vibrant colourful shapes - all different and unique - represent the people of Torry, their history & culture.
During a long period of unemployment, I was always in Torry, and spent many nights walking across Victoria Road to Torry Battery with my best friend, talking and taking in the beautiful views. Watching the dolphins jump, looking for crabs along the shoreline, watching the sunset turn the sky red. It was amazing to be part of a project which brought my practice full circle.
